BIA's Supplementary Submission to the Inquiry into Disability Care and Support

Brain Injury Australia has made a supplementary submission to the Productivity Commission’s Inquiry into Disability Care and Support. The Inquiry’s “Issues Paper” includes the following; “an overall criterion for eligibility [to any proposed scheme of disability service provision] might be those people for whom the expected benefits of additional resourcing and better service coordination would be greatest. Factors that could be relevant in deciding this are where: local support and resources are low (some country areas) or where general disadvantage is combined with disability (some Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander  communities).” At its November 2010 meeting, the Board of Brain Injury Australia determined to conduct consultations with people with an ABI, their families and carers living in regional, rural and remote communities. This submission reports on the results of those consultations.
